Weekly Virtual Geek Session
WAG Office Hours - Ask A Geek / Share Some Geekdom
In October 2022, we began a new venture in our learning and networking support for WAG members. We now host a weekly WAG office hour - since nicknamed the WAG Geek Session! So far, it has been a small but mighty group. Thank you to those who have joined us.
WHEN:
- Come late, leave early - no hard feelings, we are all crazy busy.
- Virtually through a Zoom link on Thursdays between 1330-1530 Eastern Time
- Link available from WAG once you become a member
WHO:
All WAG members and their vetted peers are welcome to attend.
The time is fun, friendly, and supportive - it is the epitome of everything that works in peer coding.
- Just hang out, observe and listen along if you don't have any pressing issues or questions.
- We are all walking away having learned something from each other - even the advanced coders and geeks.
- And, it feels great to help when you have the chance! Even newbies have tricks to share for us to learn.
We are just a bunch of geeks and admins trying to put our heads together on anything that is brought to the table that hour.
- So, if you are struggling with a code issue, implementation plan, or a process question in WebEOC, stop banging your head on your keyboard.
- Just show up and ask away! Maybe we can help? We will certainly understand your plight.
- If you have some skills or experience with coding, implementations, workflow/process permissions, etc. – your help is always appreciated answering questions and working out a solution for a fellow admin.
Why attend open office hours?
- Get help “on demand” and to talk through a dilemma with your network of peers.
- Offer technical assistance in your wheelhouse to your network of peers.
Successful office hours depend on your questions AND your help answering others. We will all learn more together.
We hope this will feel like a comfortable, informal platform for problem solving. This was intended to be like asking a coworker for help and having them looking over your shoulder. We will not record sessions for that reason. These sessions are for on-demand help and augment the tools provided by the already successful webinar, Google group, and newsletter series.
